The California Committee for Commemoration of the Holodomor Genocide is committed to the dissemination of education about the Holodomor (Ukrainian genocide) of 1932-1933. We aim to fulfill this goal by organizing annual events commemorating the tragedy, as well as ongoing projects in collaboration with other Ukrainian-American organizations. Our interests include the reversal of Walter Durant’s 1932 Pulitzer Prize for his publication falsely denying the Holodomor, and making education about the Holodomor part of the core curriculum for California high school students. Established in 1925, the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) is the longest-running and largest Ukrainian women’s organization in the US. Their mission is to promote and develop educational and cultural efforts and provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians worldwide.
